You are cordially invited to our next Gateway JUG meeting
on April 7, 2009 at 6:00pm
Tomasz Mozolewski (Tomek) will be discussing a very interesting topic called "Java Threads."
Many of us developing Java web applications avoid the use of Java's parallel programming features either because our JEE containers prohibit spawning new threads in our applications or because we work with threads so little we're just not that comfortable with the subject.
Tomek's "Java Threads" presentation provides introduction to parallel programming using Java threads. It's directed to people who have basic understanding of threads or work in multi-threaded environment. We'll explore reasons for growing interest in parallel programming, how Java helps and what pitfalls wait for you due to Java Memory Model specification. We'll also examine performance of various designs for parallel code.
Please RSVP to rsvp@gatewayjug.org with name, company, and email if you plan to attend. Hope to see you all there!
